“He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth; its dwellers are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.”
Isaiah 40 begins the great section of comfort for exiles in Babylon, a land full of powerful gods and mighty empires. To people who felt forgotten, the prophet points to the greatness of the God who has not abandoned them.
