1 Corinthians 13
Berean Standard Bible13 verses · 1 min read
Often read at weddings, this chapter was really written about life in a divided church. Paul says that the most impressive gifts, whether eloquent speech, prophecy, deep knowledge, mountain-moving faith or extreme sacrifice, are empty if they lack love. He then describes what love looks like in practice: patient, kind, not envious or boastful, not rude or self-seeking, not keeping a record of wrongs, rejoicing in truth, bearing and enduring all things. Spiritual gifts will pass away, but love never ends. For now we know only in part, like seeing in a poor mirror, but one day we will know fully. Faith, hope and love remain, and love is the greatest.
