Who we are
Yeshva (“we”) is a free online Bible and faith community available at yeshva.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What you can use without an account
The Bible reader is public: you don't need an account to read or listen to Scripture. We use functional cookies to remember your preferences (language, text size, reader layout, and last chapter read). The Audio Bible uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis — audio is generated on your device and is never sent to our servers.
Information we collect when you create an account
When you register we store your email address, your name, and an encrypted password (or your Google identifier if you choose “Continue with Google”). You can optionally add a username, bio, location, website, and profile photo.
Content you share (posts, photos, prayer requests, comments, groups, events, and private messages) is stored so we can provide the service. Private messages are visible only to the participants of the conversation.
If you create a Match profile (optional, 18+ only), we also store the details you choose to share: gender, birth year, city and approximate coordinates, denomination, interests, and additional photos.
How we use your information
We use your information solely to operate Yeshva: showing your profile and content to the community, suggesting people and groups, and sending in-app notifications and transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset).
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not use your content to train AI models.
Device information and security logs
When you sign in, the app and website record basic device details: app version, device model and operating system version, language, time of last activity, and IP address. We use this data solely to keep your account secure, prevent abuse, review community reports, and understand which app versions are in use.
IP addresses are automatically deleted after 90 days. Device records are removed along with your account. We never use this data for advertising, and we never sell it.
Service providers we rely on
Supabase (authentication, database, and file storage), Vercel (web hosting and anonymous, cookie-free visit analytics), Resend (transactional email sent from hello@yeshva.com), and OpenStreetMap's Photon (city autocomplete when you type a location). Bible texts come from public APIs (bible-api.com and getbible.net) fetched from our servers without any of your data.
YouTube videos embedded in posts load through youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.
Cookies
We use strictly functional cookies: your session (Supabase), your preferred language, and your Bible reader preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your profile, change your email or password, block members, and leave groups from within the app. You can hide or remove your Match profile at any time.
How to delete your account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from the Yeshva mobile app: Settings → Account → Delete account. We ask you to type “DELETE” to confirm, because the action cannot be undone.
Once confirmed, your account is removed immediately: your profile, posts, photos, prayer requests, comments, reactions, private messages, group memberships, event RSVPs, your Match profile, and any files you uploaded. Nothing is kept in a hidden copy and there is no waiting period.
If you no longer have access to the app or to your account, email hello@yeshva.com from your account address and we will delete it for you.
Children
Yeshva is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The Match section requires you to be 18 or older.
Security and retention
Your data is stored in Supabase with row-level access controls: each member can only see and change what belongs to them. We keep your information for as long as your account exists; deleting it removes all of your associated content (see “How to delete your account”).
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date above. Questions? Email hello@yeshva.com or visit the contact page.
