“Seek the prosperity of the city to which I have sent you as exiles. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for if it prospers, you too will prosper.””
This verse comes from Jeremiah's letter to the exiles in Babylon, sent around 597 BC. Instead of waiting idly for a quick return, they were to build houses, plant gardens, marry and have children.
