“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.”
Luke opens with the story of Zechariah, an elderly priest serving in the temple, and his wife Elizabeth, who had no children. While Zechariah is offering incense, an angel appears to him on the right side of the altar.
