“But Jesus overheard their conversation and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe.””
Jairus, a synagogue leader, had begged Jesus to come and heal his dying twelve-year-old daughter. Jesus was delayed by the woman who touched his cloak, and messengers arrived saying the girl had died and there was no need to trouble the teacher further.
