Numbers 17:1

Study note

Numbers 17 follows the rebellion of Korah and a plague that threatened the people. To settle the question of who had God's authority to serve as priest, the Lord told Moses to collect a staff from each tribe and lay them before the ark overnight.

Numbers 17:8The next day Moses entered the Tent of the Testimony and saw that Aaron’s staff, representing the house of Levi, had sprouted, put forth buds, blossomed, and produced almonds.
