““The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.”
The Israelites are preparing to enter the land, and land is being assigned by tribe and family. Zelophehad has died leaving only daughters, who are in danger of losing their family's inheritance.
