“To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of the One who holds the sharp, double-edged sword.”
The third letter goes to Pergamum, a city with a strong center of emperor worship and pagan temples. The church there held on to Christ's name under pressure but tolerated some false teaching.
