Berean Standard Bible

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Romans 12:21

Study note

This is the closing line of Romans 12. Paul has just told believers never to avenge themselves, to leave room for God's justice, and even to feed a hungry enemy, quoting Proverbs about heaping burning coals on an enemy's head, an image many understand as bringing them to shame and repentance.
