Strength for the Weary

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out. He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:28-31 (BSB)Read the whole chapter →

Isaiah spoke to people who felt worn out and forgotten, and he began by reminding them who God is: the everlasting Creator who never grows tired and whose understanding no one can measure. Then comes the promise that he gives strength to the weary and increases power for those who have none. Notice that even the young stumble in this passage; exhaustion is not a sign of weak faith, it is part of being human. The strength promised goes to those who wait on the Lord, which means leaning on him instead of on our own reserves. Waiting is active trust, not passivity. Today, name one area where you are running on empty. Instead of pushing harder, stop for a few minutes, tell God honestly how tired you are, and ask him for the next step only. Then take that single step and let him carry the rest.

Prayer

Lord, You never tire. Renew my strength today and show me the next step. Amen.
