God Finally Spoke in a Son

“On many past occasions and in many different ways, God spoke to our fathers through the prophets. But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. So He became as far superior to the angels as the name He has inherited is excellent beyond theirs.”

The letter to the Hebrews opens with a sweeping statement: God spoke to our ancestors in many ways through the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken through His Son. The Son is described as the radiance of God's glory, the exact imprint of His nature, and the one who holds the universe together by His word. Christmas is not the story of a good teacher who happened to point toward God; it is God showing us Himself in a human life. That changes how we listen. We do not have to guess what God is like; we can look at Jesus. Today, spend ten minutes reading one short scene from a Gospel slowly, and ask a single question: what does this tell me about God? Write down one sentence, and let it shape one decision today, whether about how you speak to your family or how you treat a stranger.

Prayer

Father, thank You for showing me Yourself in Jesus. Help me know You more truly. Amen.
