Beautiful Feet Bring Good News

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices, together they shout for joy. For every eye will see when the LORD returns to Zion. Break forth in joy, sing together, O ruins of Jerusalem, for the LORD has comforted His people; He has redeemed Jerusalem. The LORD has bared His holy arm in the sight of all the nations; all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.”

Isaiah pictures a runner crossing the mountains with news that the exile is over, peace has come, and God reigns. The messenger's feet are called beautiful, not because they are graceful but because of what they carry. The watchmen on the walls shout for joy as they see the Lord returning to Zion, and even ruined places are told to sing. Good news makes people move. This week, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we are all invited to be messengers in small ways. That may not mean a stage or a sermon; it may mean a calm word to a worried friend, an invitation to a Christmas service, or a card that says God is near. Choose one person who has not yet heard good news in a way they could take in. Reach out today with warmth, not pressure, and let your feet be beautiful.

Prayer

Lord, make me a messenger of Your peace. Give me warm words for someone today. Amen.
