Strength for the Tired
“Why do you say, O Jacob, and why do you assert, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my claim is ignored by my God”? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out. He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”
Israel in exile felt forgotten, as if their way was hidden from God. Isaiah answers that the Creator never grows weary and never runs out of understanding, and that he gives strength to the faint. Even young people stumble, the prophet notes, which is a comfort to anyone who thinks tiredness means failure. The promise is for those who wait on the Lord: they will renew their strength. Waiting here is not idleness; it is leaning our full weight on him again. Rest is often the first spiritual discipline we need. Today, look honestly at where you are exhausted. Cancel or shorten one non-essential thing, sleep a little earlier, or take a walk without your phone. Then offer God the tired part of your life and ask him for strength for just the next step.
Prayer
Lord, You never grow tired. Renew my strength and teach me to rest in You. Amen.
