Don't Go It Alone
“Let us hold resolutely to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
The writer urges believers to hold fast to their hope without wavering, because the one who promised is faithful. Then comes a practical instruction: think about how to stir up one another to love and good works, and do not neglect meeting together. Faith was never designed as a solo project. Some of us pull away when we are tired, discouraged or embarrassed, but that is exactly when we most need others. Encouragement is a two-way street: we give it and we receive it. Today, contact one person who could use encouragement and one who could offer it to you. Send a message, make a call, or invite someone for coffee or a walk. If you have been away from a church community, consider taking a small step back this week, visiting a service or a small group.
Prayer
Faithful God, lead me to people who encourage me, and use me to encourage them. Amen.
