Strength for the Weary
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out. He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”
Isaiah wrote to exiles who felt forgotten. They asked whether God had lost track of their way. The prophet answers with a question meant to lift their eyes: have you not known, have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, never grows tired or weary? He gives power to the faint and increases strength to the weak. Even the young grow tired and stumble, so no one should feel ashamed of weariness. Then comes the promise for those who wait on the Lord: they will renew their strength, mount up with wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. Waiting here is not idle; it is hopeful reliance. Today, be honest about where you are worn out. Pause for five minutes, hand that area to God, and rest without fixing anything.
Prayer
Everlasting God, I am tired. Renew my strength as I wait on You. Amen.
