Be Strong and Courageous

“Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.””
Joshua 1:9 (BSB)Read the whole chapter →

Joshua faced an enormous job: leading a nation into a land full of walls and armies, after Moses, the only leader he had ever known, had died. God's repeated command is strong and courageous, and it is worth noticing what the courage rests on. It is not Joshua's talent or experience. God says do not be afraid, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Courage in the Bible is what fear does when it remembers who is present. It does not deny that the challenge is large. It simply refuses to let size decide the outcome. You may be facing a conversation, a diagnosis, a job, or a decision that makes your stomach tighten. Today, name that fear honestly to God. Then write down one brave action, however small, and do it before evening, trusting that He goes with you.

Prayer

Lord, You are with me wherever I go. Turn my fear into courage and my courage into action. Amen.
