What God Asks

“With what shall I come before the LORD when I bow before the God on high? Should I come to Him with burnt offerings, with year-old calves? Would the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Micah 6:6-8 (BSB)Read the whole chapter →

The people in Micah's day wondered how much religious effort would satisfy God: more sacrifices, bigger offerings, even something extreme. The prophet answers with three simple things: do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God. He is not dismissing worship; he is saying worship without a life that looks like God's heart misses the point. Justice is about how we treat those with less power. Mercy is loving kindness that stays faithful. Humility is the daily walking beside God rather than ahead of Him. Today, ask which of the three is weakest in you right now. Then pick one concrete action: a fair word for someone overlooked, forgiveness you have been withholding, or ten quiet minutes of prayer before you decide something. Small and specific beats grand and vague.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with You today. Amen.
