Trust and Straight Paths
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and turn away from evil. This will bring healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.”
These lines ask for trust with the whole heart and warn against leaning on our own understanding. That does not mean switching off our minds; the book of Proverbs is full of appeals to think carefully. It means that our understanding is not the final authority. There is a wider view than ours. The promise is that when we acknowledge God in all our ways, He makes our paths straight. Notice the word all: not only in church, but at work, in money decisions and in relationships. Today, before an important choice, pause and ask God for guidance instead of only running the numbers in your head. Then seek advice from someone wise, since Proverbs also praises counselors. Expect direction to come gradually, and keep walking faithfully in what you already know to be right.
Prayer
Lord, I trust You with all my heart. Make my path straight and my choices wise. Amen.
