“The men of Beth-shemesh asked, “Who can stand in the presence of the LORD, this holy God? To whom should the ark go up from here?””
The Philistines had captured the ark of the covenant, but plagues struck their cities, and they sent it back on a cart to the Israelite town of Beth-shemesh. Some men there looked into the ark, and many died.
