““Here is My Servant, whom I uphold, My Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will bring justice to the nations.”
Isaiah 42 opens the first of the Servant Songs, in which God presents a mysterious servant who will bring justice to the nations. Israel is elsewhere called God's servant, but this figure carries out a mission the nation failed to complete.
