Psalms 82:1

Study note

Psalms 82 is a striking psalm of Asaph that pictures God presiding over a heavenly assembly and judging those who were supposed to rule with justice. Interpreters differ on who the assembly members are, whether human judges, angelic powers or pagan gods, but the psalm's concern for justice is clear.
