Psalms 82
Berean Standard Bible8 verses · 1 min read
God stands in the divine council and judges those called gods, or rulers. He charges them with unjust rulings and favoring the wicked, and commands them to defend the weak, the orphan, the poor, and the oppressed. They walk in darkness while the foundations of the earth shake. Though called gods and sons of the Most High, they will die like mere mortals. The psalm ends with a prayer that God himself rise and judge the earth. Readers differ on whether these beings are angelic powers or human judges; Jesus cites it in John 10.
