Romans 13
Berean Standard Bible14 verses · 2 min read
Paul asks believers to live under governing authorities, reasoning that order in society serves God's purposes and that doing good is the best answer to civil power. He also says taxes and respect are owed to those who hold office. Christians have long debated where this obedience ends, especially when a ruler commands what God forbids. He then turns to love as the one debt that is never fully paid, since love sums up the commandments and does no harm to a neighbor. The chapter closes with an urgent call to wake up, because salvation is nearer than before: put away the deeds of darkness and put on Christ.
