Leaning, Not Just Knowing
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
It is easy to trust God with what we cannot control and to lean on our own cleverness for everything else. This proverb asks for whole-hearted trust and gently warns against leaning on our own understanding. That does not mean switching off the brain; it means refusing to make our understanding the final judge. The promise is that as we acknowledge him in all our ways, he will make our paths straight. Notice the phrase all your ways: work decisions, money, dating, family conflicts, ordinary Tuesday errands. See how Proverbs 3:6 does not promise a shortcut, but a path that God himself smooths. Today, pick one decision you have been turning over alone. Before you act, pause for two minutes, tell God what you are leaning toward and why, and ask him to redirect you if you are wrong. Then take the next step with peace.
