After the Questions
“Then Job replied to the LORD: “I know that You can do all things and that no plan of Yours can be thwarted. You asked, ‘Who is this who conceals My counsel without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak. I will question you, and you shall inform Me.’ My ears had heard of You, but now my eyes have seen You.”
Job spent chapters demanding answers, and when God finally speaks, he does not explain the suffering at all. He shows Job the wideness of creation and his own steady care over it. Job's response is not a formula. He says he had heard of God before, but now he has seen him. Many of us have grown up hearing about faith, yet it becomes real only in the crucible. Notice in Job 42:5 that the change is in relationship, not in information. Job does not get a tidy solution, but he gets God. If you are carrying unanswered questions today, you are in good company. Bring them honestly instead of hiding them. Today, write your hardest question on a sheet of paper. Pray it aloud, then fold the paper and place it in your Bible as a sign that you are content to keep asking while trusting the One who hears.

Prayer
God, I bring you my questions. Even when I have no answers, let me know that you are near and that you hear me.
