Stand Still and See
“But Moses told the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the LORD’s salvation, which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.””
Israel stood between Pharaoh's chariots and the sea, and panic broke out. Some even said it would have been better to stay in Egypt. Moses answers with words that sound almost impossible: do not be afraid, stand firm, and see the deliverance the Lord will bring today; the Lord will fight for you, and you need only be still. Then God tells Moses to move the people forward, so stillness is not passivity. It is a refusal to panic and a readiness to walk when God opens the way. There are moments when we cannot fix the situation and our only task is to trust the One who can. The sea did not part before the people arrived at it. Today, take a difficult situation you cannot solve and give it to God in a two-minute silent prayer, then ask Him for just the next step.
Prayer
Lord, fight for me where I cannot. Keep me calm and ready to walk when You open the way. Amen.
