Numbering Our Days
“So teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90 is attributed to Moses, a man who spent forty years in the desert and knew how short life feels next to God's eternity. Its request is simple: teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Notice that it does not ask for more days but for wiser ones. Counting days is not morbid; it is a way of waking up to the fact that this ordinary Tuesday is a gift with an edge. Most of us live as if time were unlimited and then wonder where it went. Wisdom begins when we ask what deserves our limited hours. Today, choose one thing that truly matters, such as a relationship, a prayer, or a work of love, and give it your first and best attention before the small urgent things crowd it out.
Prayer
Teach me to number my days, Lord, and to spend them well. Give me a wise heart today. Amen.
