Trust Over Understanding
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Many of us begin a year with plans and a strong wish to see the whole road. Proverbs offers a different way to walk: trust the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. This does not forbid thinking; the same book praises planning and counsel. It warns against making our own reading of events the final authority. In every way, it says, acknowledge Him, and He will make the paths straight. The promise is not a life without turns but a road that God is guiding. Trust is practiced in specific decisions, not in slogans. Think of one decision you are carrying right now that you keep turning over. Pray about it out loud, ask one wise person for their view, and then take the next step you can see, leaving the rest in God's hands.
Prayer
Father, I trust You more than my own reasoning. Straighten my path and steady my steps. Amen.
