Help From Above
“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber. Behold, the Protector of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”
The traveler in this psalm lifts his eyes toward the hills, perhaps toward the dangers of the road, and asks a real question: where will help come from? His answer is simple. It comes from the one who made heaven and earth, and who never dozes off on the job. Many of us carry problems into the night as if the world would fall apart the moment we closed our eyes. Yet the keeper of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. The idea is not that trouble disappears, but that someone stronger is awake while we rest. As July begins and many people travel, Psalms 121:2 is a good companion for any road. Today, name one worry you have been guarding alone. Say it aloud to God, then hand it over and do something small and ordinary, like drinking a glass of water or going for a short walk, as a sign that you trust him with the watch.
