Strength for the Weary

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out. He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”

Isaiah speaks to people worn out by exile and long waiting. He reminds them that the Creator of the ends of the earth never grows tired or weary, and that he gives strength to the weak. Even young people stumble, the prophet notes, so no one is exempt from exhaustion. The promise is not that we will never tire but that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. Waiting here is not passive; it means hoping with your face turned toward him. Today, be honest about where you are running on empty. Instead of pushing through on adrenaline, schedule one concrete act of renewal: an early night, a walk, a conversation with a friend, or ten minutes of silent prayer. Let God carry you rather than proving you can carry everything.

Prayer

Lord, I am tired. Renew my strength as I wait on you.
