Come, Let Us Walk in the Light
“This is the message that was revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz concerning Judah and Jerusalem: In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. And many peoples will come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways so that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. Then He will judge between the nations and arbitrate for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer take up the sword against nation, nor train anymore for war. Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.”
Isaiah sees a day when people from every nation stream toward God's house, eager to learn His ways. Instead of fighting, they turn weapons into farming tools, and nations stop training for war. It is a picture of hope in a world that often feels divided and weary. Advent is the season when Christians look for the coming of Christ, and this passage gives us a horizon to look toward: a world of peace under God's teaching. The passage ends with an invitation, not a threat: come, let us walk in the light of the Lord. Today, ask what is one small way you can practice peace in your corner of the world, such as ending an old argument, speaking gently in a tense conversation, or praying for someone you find hard to love. Take one step toward that light before the day is over.
Prayer
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Lead me to walk in Your light. Amen.
