Where Your Heart Lives

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21 (BSB)Read the whole chapter →

Jesus does not say that having things is wrong. He points to what happens inside us: the heart follows whatever we treasure. If we store up value in things that rust, fade or get stolen, our hearts will be as fragile as those things. If we invest in what lasts, such as love, mercy, faithfulness and the good of others, our hearts settle into something secure. It is a practical test. Look at where your time, attention and money went this week, and you will see what you are treasuring, whatever you say you value. The invitation is not to feel guilty but to redirect. Today, choose one small investment in something that lasts: call someone who feels forgotten, give something away, or spend twenty unhurried minutes in prayer. Notice where your heart wants to go once you have put your treasure there.

Prayer

Jesus, set my heart on what lasts. Show me one small way to invest in Your kingdom today. Amen.
