Start Where You Are Told

“Then the LORD said to Abram, “Leave your country, your kindred, and your father’s household, and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you; and all the families of the earth will be blessed through you. ” So Abram departed, as the LORD had directed him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.”

Abram was given a direction before he was given a map. God told him to leave what was familiar and promised to show him the land later. Notice the order: the promise came first, the details came step by step. Many of us wait for a full plan before we move, and so we stay put for years. This passage suggests that faith is often just the next obedient step taken while the rest is still hidden. A new month is a good moment to ask what God has already made clear to you, even if the whole road is not. Today, choose one small act of obedience you have been postponing, such as a conversation, a habit or a yes, and do it before the day ends. Leave the rest of the journey to the One who promised to guide you. See also Hebrews 11:8.
