Staying Connected
““I am the true vine, and My Father is the keeper of the vineyard. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me. I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.”
Jesus calls Himself the true vine and His followers the branches. A branch does not strain to produce fruit; it stays attached and the life of the vine flows through it. Yet many of us treat faith as a performance, working harder while feeling emptier. Jesus says plainly that apart from Him we can do nothing, which is not an insult but a relief. The Father, the gardener, also prunes, and pruning can hurt while it prepares more growth. The word that repeats is remain. Today, ask what keeps you connected to Christ: Scripture, prayer, honest community, worship. Choose one of them and give it real attention, not as a duty to check off but as a way of staying near. Fruit such as patience and love is the natural result.
Prayer
Jesus, help me remain in You, and let Your life flow through mine. Amen.
