John 15
Berean Standard Bible27 verses · 3 min read
Jesus calls himself the true vine, his Father the gardener and his followers the branches: they can bear fruit only by staying connected to him, and the Father prunes so they bear more. He says obeying his commands keeps them in his love, that his joy may be in them, and repeats that they should love one another, for there is no greater love than laying down one's life for friends. He calls the disciples friends, not servants, and reminds them that he chose them to bear lasting fruit. He warns that the world that hated him will hate them, but the Spirit of truth will testify about him, and they too will bear witness.
