1 Chronicles 25
Berean Standard Bible31 verses · 2 min read
David sets apart certain sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying with harps, lyres, and cymbals. The chapter records that there were 288 skilled musicians, trained in singing to the Lord, all under the direction of their fathers and the king. They too are assigned by lot in twenty-four groups of twelve, and everyone, young and old, teacher and student alike, takes part on equal footing. Music here is called prophecy, meaning speaking to God and for God through song. The passage honors musicians as ministers and shows that trained skill and prophetic gifting belong together in worship.
