“At that time Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the LORD; my horn is exalted in the LORD. My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, for I rejoice in Your salvation.”
Hannah has prayed for a child through years of pain and humiliation, and now she has given her son Samuel to serve the Lord at Shiloh. Her prayer of thanks opens the book, and Mary's song in Luke echoes many of its themes.
