Genesis 20
Berean Standard Bible18 verses · 2 min read
Abraham travels to Gerar and, fearing for his life, tells King Abimelech that Sarah is his sister. Abimelech takes her, but God warns him in a dream that she is a married woman, and Abimelech, who had not touched her, returns her with gifts and a rebuke. Abraham admits his fear and explains that she is in fact his half-sister. Abraham prays, and God heals Abimelech's household. The story shows a patriarch failing through fear while God protects both his promise and a foreign king who acted in good conscience.
