Come and Rest
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””
Jesus speaks to the weary and burdened, and the invitation is disarmingly simple: come to me. He does not ask us to fix ourselves first. He offers rest, and then a yoke, which sounds like a contradiction until you remember that a yoke is a shared tool. Two animals pull together, and the stronger one carries most of the weight. Learning from Jesus means working alongside someone gentle and humble in heart. His way is not the pressure-driven pace that exhausts us. Today, identify the heaviest thing you are carrying, whether it is work, a family situation or a private guilt. Speak it to Jesus in a few honest sentences, as you would tell a friend. Then ask what part of the load you have taken on that was never yours, and set that piece down.
Prayer
Jesus, I am weary. I come to you and ask you to carry the weight with me.
