2 Chronicles 12
Berean Standard Bible16 verses · 2 min read
Once Rehoboam feels secure and strong, he and the people abandon the law of the Lord. Shishak of Egypt invades with a huge army, taking fortified cities. The prophet Shemaiah tells them this is a result of their unfaithfulness. When the leaders humble themselves, God grants partial deliverance: Jerusalem is spared destruction, but Shishak takes the temple treasures, and Rehoboam replaces the gold shields with bronze. The chapter shows that comfort can lead to drifting, that humility softens judgment, and that sin still has real costs.
