Ecclesiastes 9
Berean Standard Bible18 verses · 3 min read
The Teacher observes that the righteous and the wise are in God's hands, but the same fate, death, comes to all. The living at least have hope: a live dog is better than a dead lion. He urges people to enjoy bread and wine, to wear clean clothes, to enjoy life with the spouse they love, and to do whatever their hands find to do with all their might, for in the grave there is no work or knowledge. Time and chance happen to everyone. He tells a story of a poor wise man who saved a city yet was forgotten, and says wisdom is better than weapons.
