Jairo, un jefe de la sinagoga, le había rogado a Jesús que fuera a sanar a su hija de doce años, que se estaba muriendo. Jesús se demoró por la mujer que tocó su manto, y llegaron unos mensajeros diciendo que la niña había muerto y que ya no molestara al Maestro.
