1 Samuel 29
Berean Standard Bible11 verses · 2 min read
The Philistine rulers assemble at Aphek for battle against Israel, and Achish brings David and his men along in the rear guard. The other Philistine commanders object, recalling the song about David's victories and fearing he will turn against them in the fighting. Achish, who insists that David is honest and blameless in his eyes, reluctantly sends him home. David protests in appearance but leaves early the next morning with his men. Without any act of his own, God spares David from the impossible situation of fighting Israel. The chapter shows providence quietly working to rescue a servant who had placed himself in a trap.
