1 Samuel 5
Berean Standard Bible12 verses · 2 min read
The Philistines place the ark in the temple of Dagon at Ashdod. The next morning Dagon has fallen on his face before the ark, and the following morning his head and hands are broken off. The people of Ashdod are struck with tumors, and the ark is moved to Gath and then Ekron, where the same affliction follows and panic spreads. The Philistine leaders decide the ark must be sent back. The chapter shows that the Lord does not need his people's armies to defend his honor, and that no idol can stand before him.
