Isaiah 9
Berean Standard Bible21 verses · 3 min read
Out of gloom, light dawns on the northern regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, the lands first struck by Assyria. The people who walked in darkness see a great light, the burden of oppression is broken, and the boots of war are burned. A child is born and a son given, and the government rests on his shoulders; he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His rule will grow in peace and justice on David's throne forever. Christians read this as pointing to Jesus. The chapter ends with a warning that pride and injustice still bring God's anger.
