Job 20
Berean Standard Bible29 verses · 2 min read
Zophar responds with a fiery speech about how the triumph of the wicked is short. He says that though evil may taste sweet, it turns to poison inside, and that whatever they gain will be vomited up. Their wealth will slip away, and heaven will reveal their guilt. Again, the implication is that Job is being punished. The speech is powerful poetry, but the book of Job as a whole will challenge the assumption that every hardship marks a sinner. The chapter shows how truth, when spoken without love, becomes a blunt instrument.
