Job 5
Berean Standard Bible27 verses · 2 min read
Eliphaz continues, urging Job to appeal to God, who does marvelous things and lifts the lowly. He says that people are born to trouble, that God disciplines those he loves, and that Job should not despise his correction. Promises follow: if Job turns to God, he will be rescued from famine, war, and calamity, and will enjoy security. Some of these words are wise and are later echoed elsewhere in Scripture, yet the book will show that they do not explain Job's case. The chapter warns against reducing suffering to a simple formula.
