Psalms 109
Berean Standard Bible31 verses · 2 min read
David cries out to a God he praises, because wicked and deceitful people are attacking him with lies and hatred despite his kindness and prayers for them. The middle of the psalm lists harsh curses against his chief accuser, asking that his life be cut short and his family bear consequences. These fierce words are hard for many readers; some see them as honest lament handed over to God rather than revenge taken by hand, others link them to the way the New Testament applies the psalm to Judas. The psalm ends with David, poor and hurting, asking for rescue because of God's steadfast love, and promising public thanks.
