Psalms 130
Berean Standard Bible8 verses · 1 min read
One of the church's classic penitential psalms. The writer cries out from the depths and asks God to listen. If the Lord kept a record of sins, no one could stand, but with him there is forgiveness, so that he is revered. The psalmist waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for morning, putting hope in his word. The psalm then turns to Israel, urging hope in the Lord because with him is steadfast love and full redemption. He will redeem Israel from all its iniquities. It moves from personal despair to confident hope, resting entirely on God's mercy rather than human merit.
